Right now I feel like I don’t have any good people to ask for a recommendation from except for the one from my high school. Although from there are some very good recommendations, but as goes for college may not be the best choice. I do have the formation of some recommendation people in the making but so far I would need to work on that more before asking that of them.
If I had to choose someone from college standing I would maybe talk with my math tutor or math professor. My math tutor isn’t quite out of college but knows me on the personal bases and that would make a good person of recommendation. My math professor on the other hand is out of college which would make them a good candidate but doesn’t know me on the personal bases as well.
I feel that is good to have someone of higher power, like a professor, and someone who knows you personally and professionally. These are good to have in a person of recommendation to ensure the best recommendation. It’s like they say it’s not what you know it’s who you know.
I agree that a professor would be a great mentor. I also need to work on finding contacts that would help me out when it comes to writing recommendations.
ReplyDeleteLetters of recomendation always come best from people knowledgeable in your field and from people who know your personally. Sounds like you have a good understanding of what u wanna do.
ReplyDeleteIt is still early in your college career, hopefully you will be able to make a connection or two to someone who can help you throughout the rest of your time here at ISU
ReplyDeleteoh indeed- haha i wrote the same thing "its not what you know its who you know"- and it is so true. Also a professor is a great person to look up to.
ReplyDeleteThe phrase "it's not what you know, it's who you know" is a great ideal to remember. Making the contacts you've spoke about will make the biggest difference in your initial career. By the way, sweet picture haha.
ReplyDeleteGoing to your professor's office hours would be a good way to establish a personal relationship with him/her.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry! You will find somebody!!! Definitely email your professors and set up a time to meet with them!! :)
ReplyDeleteThere is still time to come across a good mentor, talking to your professors will help too.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. It takes time.
ReplyDeleteyeah it takes time to find the right mentor, just keep looking!
